Income/Expenses – August 2013

From my recurring income series: Our income and expense numbers for August:

Gross Income:  $15150  – Wife squeezed in 3 paychecks and a small bonus plus we had the $500 incentive from opening our new Chase checking account

Government Cut:  $3300

Net income:  $11850

Expenses:  $3560

Home Interest and Maintenance $1,260
Food & Dining $930
Property Taxes $330
Bills & Utilities $290
Auto & Transport $255
Gifts & Donations $5
Entertainment $100
Shopping $390

That means we saved $8300, plus about $700 in 401k matching from the employers, which was a net savings rate of about 76%!  While our food budget is continuing to look ever more absurd, it’s still a good mark overall and imagine what it would look like if we didn’t go out to eat so much. Our biggest non-edible splurge was a new tablet I actually “owed” my wife for her birthday months ago and we just took forever to decide on what we actually wanted (a new Nexus 7).
