Income/Expenses, June 2013

Our income and expense numbers come from a combo of Mint tracking and a little manual labor to adjust for the money Mint never sees: automatic withdrawals from our paychecks for 401ks, insurance etc.  The numbers will be gross income so the effects of pre/post tax 401k withdrawals are clearer.  Dividend income probably should be included, and maybe I’ll do that in the future, but for now everything is auto-reinvested so I’ll discount it.  I’ve also taken to counting my mortgage principle as a savings of sorts, rather than an expense.

Here it is:

Gross Income:  $11300

Government Cut:  $2600

Net income:  $8700

Expenses:  $3325

Home $1,505
Food & Dining $815
Taxes $331
Bills & Utilities $210
Auto & Transport $185
Gifts & Donations $110
Entertainment $90
Shopping $35
Health & Fitness $20
Personal Care $20

That means we saved $5375, plus about $800 401k matching from the employers, which was a net savings rate of about 70%.  Awesome month us!
